One of the “neat” features of the new IntelliJ IDEA Release 12 was the inclusion of the Darcula theme. Well, unless your eyes just can’t adjust to a light-text-on-dark-background theme. (I’ve rarely been able to use an editor like that for long.). I’ve been using the Solarized theme nearly system wide for some time and have found “Solarized Light” to be a great option for an easier on the eyes, yet not glaring white editing experience.

Solarized has theme files for several terminal and editor applications – check it out here.
